We moved into the area in 2002. Since then, we've always wanted a local coffee shop. When Mechanism opened, we were beyond excited. Within walking distance and, as we learned, business owners had done this before. What do I love about Mechanism? The quality of bean is top shelf. Regardless of what you order, the flavor profile file meets expectations. They have a good variety of syrups, with a few being made in shop (I recommend the brown sugar). Pastry and meal options are also satisfying, but get there early if you want a selection of muffins. Those go quickly. I tend to lean on the avocado toast with a scrambled egg or the breakfast wrap with sausage. The later is so filling and the sweet potatoes make it a meal. What really stands out are the people. Within a welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for work or a social gathering, the owners and staff are never without a smile. Within two weeks of us frequenting the establishment, they knew our names. Now when we walk in, they'll ask if we want a specific coffee or food item. A true neighborhood vibe. I appreciate everything about them. The downside is that they aren't open on Sundays and they close at 2 pm, but surely that's based on how important their church community is to them and that in our area, there isn't much to gain from being open beyond 2 pm. Selfishly, I wish I could have them open until at least 4 pm and available after my Sunday bike ride. :) That said, you can find us there most Saturdays, after an early morning pickle ball competition. Mechanism, in my opinion, is easily a top 3 coffee house option in Jacksonville. If they were a publicly traded stock, I'd be neck deep in those.
Delicious iced americano, excellent breakfast options and a good variety. Affordable/reasonable prices. Good interior design pretty spacious. Convenient location, kind and quick staff. I really enjoyed this shop and will be back !!!
Mechanism is one of my favorite coffee shops in Jacksonville. The drinks are great and actually have flavor. The atmosphere makes this a great place to chill as it has a minimalist aesthetic that creates a modern vibe. Don't bother with overrated chains like Starbucks and support local businesses instead. You will get better quality for your money. I only wish that Mechanism did not close at 2 PM on Saturdays as this is a peaceful environment to study in. However, this is not a major issue by any means.
Mechanism coffee roasters is a nice place to grab a Cortado, espresso or other coffee type drink with a nice ambience and decor. While the prices are slightly higher than normal, it’s worth it for good coffee! I met Mike today the owner and he was a great guy who took the time to explain How the drinks were made. I wanted to take a few pictures so that you can see this is a local coffee shop run by people in the Jacksonville community. Welcome to the neighborhood! Definitely worth a visit! Was greeted kindly. Offered samples of the drip coffee (very impressed) as I asked questions about what to get. Ended up ordering a maple cold foam cold brew which was delicious! Didn’t order food but the menu sounded delicious. Lots of great seating inside and out. COMFY chairs inside!!! Bless. Highly recommend!
Not much else you can ask from a coffee shop. Stunningly beautiful interior, friendly staff and delicious coffee. We always love coming here. They also have a good selection of seasonal items and in store merch and coffee bags to purchase.
Great coffee shop! Coffee is on the level if not better than other local shops (Bold Bean, SoGro, Jax Coffee Co). Food is great! One of the best coffee shops for hot food (very similar to SoGro but a bit better). Good spot to get work or studying done during the day! Only downside is the hours (7am-2pm)! Recommend increasing hours to 6-8pm.
This was my first time visiting Mechanism Coffee (I went because it is on the Jax Coffee and Donut Trail). I was pleasantly surprised by this fairly new shop! The room was clean and the decor was very nice. My iced latte as great, and the beans I took home were AMAZING. the staff was very helpful in steering my menu selections since it was my first time. I highly recommend you stop and check them out!
